“Monuments” is a series that has naturally evolved, where I have been heavily influenced by a desire for structure, through which I am seeking to create an entirely new world without any recognizable subjects. I aim to embed this structure into my work in order to imprint my memories onto the canvas. These creations therefore flow from the depths of my personal experiences which, I hope, enrich my work with an innate sense of positivity. For me, painting is a therapeutic activity. As I delve back into my early years, I find that they contribute significantly to the layers and complexities of my art. During the painting process I often feel uplifted by this, but I also recognise that these emotional resonances can evoke both positive and negative feelings and interpretations from each individual piece of work I create.
